PT&T to boost bandwidth usage

Listed telecommunications firm Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (PT&T) has tapped a United States-based company to help enterprises improve their bandwidth usage.

PT&T over the weekend said VMware Inc. will help them integrate a so-called Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) to boost their network quality and application performance while simplifying support and troubleshooting.

“The inclusion of VMware SD-WAN in our product portfolio further strengthens the lineup of core business solutions aimed at continuously providing value-added services to our customers,” Ella Mae Ortega, PT&T general manager for IT Services and Large Enterprise, said.

SD-WAN works by automating network discovery and configuration and redirecting network traffic to the most reliable links.

It likewise adds security capabilities to enable optimally protected traffic.

PT&T offers fiber Internet and IT solutions to enterprise clients. It holds a 25-year franchise which allows them to establish, maintain and operate both wired and wireless telecommunications systems for domestic and international communication in the country.
